Bellevue got hit with some serious snow and honestly, it was beautiful. Sometimes the best moments are not in the gym — they are just living life and appreciating where you are.

Elizabeth and I bundled up and went exploring. The Pacific Northwest in winter hits different. Everything goes quiet when the snow falls. The trees, the streets, the mountains in the background — it is one of those days that reminds you why you live here.

Why This Matters for Fitness

Here is something nobody talks about: recovery is not just sleep and protein. It is mental. It is walking outside, breathing cold air, spending time with the person you love. The guys who burn out on fitness are the ones who make it their entire identity. You need a life outside the gym to sustain a life inside it.

40+ years of lifting has taught me that. The iron is not going anywhere. Sometimes you just need a snow day.

Bellevue, Washington

For those who do not know — I am based in Bellevue, WA. Right across Lake Washington from Seattle. Mountains, water, forests, and some of the best gyms on the West Coast. It is a great place to train and live. The weather keeps you honest — you learn to love indoor training when it rains 8 months a year.
